5 Artists Killing It On Etsy

Etsy is such a great platform to utilise as an artist or general creative ‘maker’. Etsy’s goal is to “keep commerce human”. How lovely?

It is the global marketplace for unique and creative goods and is home to a whole world of unique handcrafted pieces and vintage treasures. They help their community of creative sellers turn their ideas and projects into successful businesses, and it’s a good place to get noticed as a lot of people use this platform when shopping for homewares, gifts and more.

Etsy has a built in promotional tool, that helps push your latest uploads and basically get your products seen by those who may be interested in them. While having your own website is a great idea as an artist, if you’re still in the stages where you perhaps lack the social following to general regular sales on your own, Etsy is a good place to start to help you potentially be found by people browsing for pieces similar to yours.

Etsy’s goal is to “keep commerce human”.

Our level of consumer awareness has shot up in the last ten years, and more people are making the point of supporting local businesses and shopping local for gifts, homewares, clothing and art. I don’t know about you, but I’d so much rather buy someone a thoughtful and unique gift from Etsy, than something from a chain store!

Below, I’ve listed 5 incredible artists who are each absolutely killing it on Etsy, by selling their artwork on the platform. Next time you’re looking for something special, make Etsy your first stop…

  1. Beth Dabourn

Beth is an art student from London studying Textile Design at Leeds Arts University. She sells a selection of A4 and A3 pieces on her Etsy shop, including lino prints, original paintings and screen prints. Find Beth Dabourn on Instagram here.

2. Becca Kate

Becca Kate Prints, by Rebecca Hollingsworth, designs bright, colourful foodie pieces that you can just picture hanging in your kitchen. With a distinct style and bright yet soft colour palette, these would make the perfect gift. Have a nose at her Instagram, here.

3. Mr Watson Design

Mr Watson Design is by an Etsy seller called Dan McBean. He started this Etsy shop in 2019 after being made redundant from his job, where he worked as a designer for 15 years. He designed software interfaces as well as e-learning and branding and marketing materials. He says in his bio that he always loved creating things, whether it was making his own furniture, decorating his home, or drawing and painting. So when the time came he decided to take the plunge and go out on his own, selling prints of his own designs as well as working as a freelance designer.

4. Jessica Birch

Jessica Birch Designs is one of my favourite Etsy shops I came across while writing this article. On the shop, you can get discounted prints by buying in packs, which could look stunning as a collection. Jessica offers a free A6 print with every order AND does free UK shipping! Find her on Instagram here.

5. Designs By Nathalie Co

Nathalie is a freelance graphic designer and has a small studio where she designs, prints and prepares prints for their new homes. Of course I had to include the print of Bristol Suspension Bridge, and I could just imagine this SASSY print hanging above a boujee dressing table, to create a bit of a Ru Paul vibe.
